Originally part of an 18th-century
Georgian terrace — and sister to the award winning Five Sumner
Place — the Marble Arch-based Sumner Hotel is quickly becoming the
address of choice for discerning visitors to central London.
An easy-to-walk-past, subtle exterior disguises a very cool designer interior, where upon entering it felt like stepping into someone’s house rather than a hotel. Tucked around a corner, the reception desk provided a friendly, smooth and discreet check-in.
Also on the ground floor is the hotel’s very refined sitting room filled with numerous guides to the best local restaurants and places of interest. The fact the hotel has no restaurant isn’t exactly a problem when you’re literally surrounded by places to eat.
The breakfast room provides a good start to the day with its relaxed atmosphere and continental feel — tea and toast were brought to the table by a polite member of staff and there was no pressure to leave. And when the worst part of your stay is oversleeping due to the beds being too comfortable, you know you’re on to a winner.
