Tucked away under the Hammersmith Line railway viaduct, Shepherd’s Bush Market is one of the few remaining markets for ethnic food. Caribbean, African and Asian-inspired treats are on offer, as well as clothes, household goods and CDs.
Take a wander around the covered stalls, smell the incense and try on a Bob Marley T-shirt while listening to reggae pulsing out from one of the stallholders’ stereos. Many of the stalls sell branded beauty products for less than the nearby supermarkets - you just have to take some time to meander through the crowds and pore over the piles of stock.
Open from 9am-6pm Monday to Saturday, it’s big enough to get lost in - while you nibble on falafel or candied yams - yet small enough to be wedged between Uxbridge and Goldhawk Roads.
It’s also minutes away from the vast Westfield mall, sure to have what you need should you not find it here.
